- The WRSCD was organized by farmers and ranchers within its boundaries on December 22, 1941.
- It was formed to provide local leadership in the conservation development and productive use of soil, water, and related resources.
- The WRSCD includes all of Washington County, except the corporate limits of the cities of Cambridge and Midvale.
- WRSCD distributes a newsletter to over 500 local landowners quarterly.
- Every Fall WRSCD hosts a 6th grade Conservation Field Day for all of Washington County's 6th grade students and teachers. The event is held at Mann Creek Campground and includes seven local and state agencies.
- Each Spring a 1st grade Conservation Field Day is organized by WRSCD for all of the 1st graders and teachers in the Weiser School District. This event was created because of the budget cuts to education and a need for educational field trips for the 1st graders.
